Q. What are the differences between being a guest, member and moderator?
A. As a guest you are assigned a temporary user name, and have all the same great functionality such as webcam chat and chat room features, except for the inability to customize your account details and password protect your user name. You will be given a new user name upon each re-entry into the chat room. As a registered member, you will have your own password protected username and ability to customize your account. Finally, as a moderator, you have the additional abilities to be invisible, temporarily kick out users and permanently ban users exhibiting behavior contradictory to the house rules. Q. Chat room sounds are driving me nuts, how do I mute them?
A. There is a small checkbox labeled "Sounds" located just below the primary chat window. When checked on or off, this will enable and disable sounds coming from the chat room.
Q. Your avatars and emoticons suck major ass, can they be changed?
A. Oh common! They aren't that bad are they? Oh... I see. Sure, let us know what you're looking for, and maybe some examples if you have any, and we'll consider adding them or replacing the existing ones, based on best of three rock, paper, scissors game.
Q. I can't seem to get the chat room to work on my computer. What's wrong?
A. That's a good question. The chat room software we use is very lite and requires only the most basic browser and computer specifications. You may need to update your browser version to something more recent. Make sure it supports AJAX, JavaScript and those types of technologies. If you're using an ol' skool browser, you're going to get ol' skool results.
Q. Does the chat room automatically log me out after being idol for a specific period of time?
A. Yes, if you do not participate in a chat room or a private chat session within 30 minutes you are automatically logged out of Chatmetro. This helps keep the chat room lively and reduce resource utilization on users that aren't doing anything. When you are available to continue chatting, you are welcome to log back into the chat room.
Q. My account has been deleted or banned, what has happened and what can I do?
A. If your account was banned, this is most likely due to your conduct in prior sessions on Chatmetro. If you have exhibited a disruptive behavior or failed to observe the chat room rules, your account and possibly the IP address of your computer may be banned. Typically when a user is banned it is permanent. However if you believe your account was banned incorrectly or there was insufficient cause for the banning you may contact Chatmetro directly for assistance. Depending on the circumstances your account may be reinstated on a probationary basis.
Q. Will my Chatmetro membership expire?
A. We may periodically purge accounts which are in excess of one to two years old that have had limited or no usage during that time frame. If you discover that your account has been purged due to this reason and would like to use Chatmetro, we welcome you to create a new account and join us again.
